There are plenty of miners out there already. So why bother making another one? The most popular Android miner right now is Pangz‑lab’s “Verus Miner,” and from what I understand, it runs through Termux. Now, I’m a huge fan of Termux — I use it constantly — but let’s be honest: Termux is basically a lightweight Linux environment, not just a terminal emulator. It’s brilliant, but it’s also far more than you need just to run a miner.
That got me thinking. If the most widely‑used phone miner is essentially a Termux wrapper, then there’s a huge opportunity: build a miner that’s purpose‑built, lean, and far more efficient. No Linux subsystem, no overhead, no layers. Just a clean, native miner that squeezes every last hash out of the device.
And honestly — who wouldn’t be interested in a miner that’s faster than the most popular one? That’s where VMiner started.
VMiner runs on Windows 10 and 11, supporting both Intel and AMD processors, with optional GPU support depending on your hardware. On Android, it works on any device running Android 7.0 or later — phones, tablets, TV boxes, anything ARM or ARM64.
Support for iPhone and Linux is in development. Both platforms will get the same clean interface and the same “no‑config, no‑drama” mining experience.
You install VMiner, open it, and either create or import your Verus wallet. Choose how many threads you want to run, tap Start, and VMiner begins mining immediately. The interface updates live with your hashrate, accepted shares, and device temperatures.
There are no pools to join, no config files to edit, and no setup rituals. VMiner is deliberately simple: start mining, see results.
VMiner includes a 1% developer contribution — 36 seconds every hour mines to the project wallet so the software stays free and maintained. It's transparent (you can see it in the status bar when it runs) and keeps the lights on without subscriptions or ads.
Benchmarked on an Intel Core i7-14700HX (28 logical cores) with 21 threads, connected to LuckPool. All miners running VerusHash 2.2. Your mileage will vary by hardware.
